2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate (CAS Nr. 868-77-9) is an organic substance with a molecular formula of C6H10O3 and a molecular weight of 130.1418. It is a colorless, transparent and easy-flowing liquid.
Used to synthesize medical polymer materials, thermosetting coatings and adhesives, etc. Mainly used for modification of resins and coatings. Copolymerization with other acrylic monomers can produce acrylic resins with active hydroxyl groups in the side chains, which can undergo esterification and cross-linking reactions, synthesize insoluble resins and improve adhesion, and can be used as fiber treatment agents, etc. It reacts with melamine-formaldehyde (or urea-formaldehyde) resin, epoxy resin, etc. to make two-component coatings. Adding to the high-end car paint can maintain the mirror gloss for a long time. It can also be used as an adhesive for synthetic textiles and medical polymer monomers.

2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate HEMA is extensively applied in manufacturing the hydroxyl acrylic resin with active group and the disposition of coating industry and epoxy resin, diisocyanate and melamino-formaldehyde resin for the production of two component coatings and the function of washing additive of lubricating oil in oil production industry.
